Here in ketchikan there is culture all over south east alaska.We have saxman this is a place where you can see totem poles that tell the old stories and history of the native people.We have tours that are set in place to explain the history of this great place.Ketchikan was based around salmon, smoke salmon, and all the different ways to prepare salmon.
Even the town itself is filled with the visions of this place from the pass and into the future.The mountains that are around this place are so close you feel you are a part of it.When you walk down the streets in the summertime it really hard to believe your in alaska.But if your here in the winter you will find out from the darkness.It gets dark early and when I say dark, its dark.You see the fishing boats passing by going to catch there salmon, because here in alaska this fishing better be good to last through the winter.
